The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) is a public historically black university located in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Established in 1873, it is the second oldest public college or university in Arkansas and is part of the University of Arkansas System. Academics


UAPB offers over 40 degree programs, including 33 undergraduate degrees, 8 master's degrees, and a PhD program in Aquaculture/Fisheries. A notable program is the comprehensive Aquaculture/Fisheries program, which is the only one in Arkansas and supports the state's significant aquaculture industry. The university also features a bachelor's degree program in regulatory science, designated as a Center of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and a strong STEM Academy. UAPB's main campus spans 320 acres in the northern part of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, surrounded by a variety of trees, offering a pleasant environment for study and relaxation. Pine Bluff, with a population of 63,000, is the county seat of Jefferson County and provides cultural and recreational facilities such as an arts and science center, movie theaters, and parks. The university provides shuttle services to and from Little Rock, Arkansas, including the airport and Amtrak station, during key times of the academic year. Local transportation within Pine Bluff is available via city bus routes.

Career Outcomes


UAPB is committed to preparing students for competitive careers through experiential learning, employer engagement, and individualized career coaching provided by the Office of Career Services. Graduates have secured positions with notable employers such as the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Apptegy, Turner Construction, PepsiCo, Cargill, and Amazon. The graduate placement rate for some programs, such as Industrial Technology Management & Applied Engineering, is above 90% six months after graduation. While specific overall employment rates vary by program, graduates in Industrial Production Technologies/Technicians and Registered Nursing have shown higher earning potential.
