The Citadel offers a diverse range of academic programs across five schools: Business, Education, Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Mathematics. Undergraduates can choose from over 30 majors and 40 minors, while the Citadel Graduate College provides 25 graduate degree programs, over 10 graduate certificate programs, and 12 college transfer programs. The teaching approach emphasizes intellectual challenge and leadership development, aiming to produce principled leaders in various fields. The School of Engineering consistently ranks among the top programs in the United States.
International Students
The Center for International and Special Programs (CISP) at The Citadel offers various services to help international students acclimate to U.S. culture and navigate the immigration process. While specific English-taught programs are not exclusively listed for international students, all academic programs are conducted in English, and international applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo. International students constitute a small percentage of the student body, with approximately 22 international students reported in one analysis, making up about 0.6% of the total student population. Students from 16 countries are represented, with the majority coming from Taiwan, Thailand, and China. International students participate in the Corps of Cadets, experiencing the same training and rules as domestic students, which many find to be a unique and enriching experience.
