About Lithuanian Maritime Academy

The Lithuanian Maritime Academy (LMA), established in 1948, is a prominent public institution of higher education in Klaipeda, Lithuania, dedicated to training highly qualified seafarers and specialists for the maritime industry. It is recognized as a leader in maritime education in the Baltic Sea Region and is a member of the global maritime and academic community. LMA joined Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) as its eleventh faculty in 2024, expanding its offerings in transport specializations to include water.

Academics


LMA offers a range of undergraduate and professional programs accredited by the Center for Quality Assessment in Higher Education, the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration, and the European Maritime Safety Agency. Key bachelor's programs include Marine Navigation, Marine Engineering, Marine Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Maritime Transport Logistics Technologies, and Port and Shipping Management. The Student Representation of LMA is an autonomous, non-political, and non-profit organization that represents student interests, promotes civic spirit, and provides consultations and services on studying and student life. Students also have opportunities for study and internship mobility through the Erasmus+ program, with partnerships with over 60 universities and 30 companies in Europe.
