Senshu University
About Senshu University
Academics
Senshu University comprises seven undergraduate faculties, five graduate schools, and one professional graduate school. Key faculties include Economics, Law, Business Administration, Commerce, Letters, Human Sciences, Network and Information, and International Communication. The university's teaching approach integrates foundational "transitional" and "introductory" curricula in the first year, followed by liberal arts and specialized studies. Notable programs include those in Japanese Language and Culture, and a Business, Culture, and Language (BCL) Program designed for international students. Multidisciplinary strengths are fostered through liberal arts courses that encourage students to approach subjects from diverse perspectives and develop analytical and decision-making skills.
International Students
Senshu University welcomes international students and provides various support services. The International Center facilitates cultural integration and offers assistance to help international students adjust to campus life. While a high level of Japanese language proficiency is generally required for regular classes, exchange programs like the BCL Program offer courses taught in English. The university also provides a Japanese Language and Culture Program, open to both exchange students from partner schools and unaffiliated individuals, which focuses on developing practical language skills and cultural understanding. International students can reside in the Senshu International House dormitory, and the university hosts exchange events to foster interaction between international and Japanese students.
Campus & Location
Senshu University has two main campuses: the Kanda Campus in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and the Ikuta Campus in Kawasaki, Kanagawa. The Kanda Campus is situated in Jimbocho, a vibrant college town in central Tokyo, offering an urban campus experience near the Imperial Palace and the National Diet Building. The Ikuta Campus, the largest and most populous, is located on a hill between Tama Hills and Ikuta Ryokuchi Park. Both campuses are accessible by public transportation, with the Kanda Campus a short walk from several subway stations. Tokyo offers a dynamic city life with abundant cultural attractions, shopping, and entertainment.
Career Outcomes
Senshu University's commitment to "Socio-Intelligence" aims to prepare students for diverse career paths. While specific employment rates for international students are not readily available, the university offers career assistance through its Career Design Center. The Ikuyukai Association, organized by parents and guardians, supports students' job searches through meetings with industry speakers and alumni. Senshu University has a strong alumni network with graduates in various fields such as politics, business, culture, and sports.
