Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) is a public technical university established by the Government of India. It is the sixth IIT established in India and is recognized as an Institute of National Importance. The IIT Guwahati campus is spread over 700 acres on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra River, approximately 20 km from the heart of Guwahati city. It is a fully residential campus, with all students living in hostels named after rivers and tributaries of North-East India. Career Outcomes

IIT Guwahati has a dedicated Centre for Career Development that assists students with placements and internships. The institute consistently records strong placement rates, with the overall placement percentage in 2025 at 62%, and 75.65% for B.Tech students. The highest package offered in 2025 was INR 1.25 crore per annum, with an average B.Tech package of INR 25.21 LPA. Top recruiting sectors include IT/Software, core industries, and finance, with major companies participating in campus placements.
