About Universitas Surabaya
Universitas Surabaya (Ubaya) is a leading private university in Indonesia, established in 1968. Located in Surabaya, East Java, Ubaya is committed to advancing the business and industrial community and societal welfare through its focus on teaching, research, and community service. The university is recognized for its academic quality, particularly in fields such as business, law, engineering, and pharmacy.
Ubaya offers a diverse range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs across eight faculties, including Pharmacy, Law, Business and Economics, Psychology, Engineering, Biotechnology, Creative Industry, and Medicine. Some of its programs, such as Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Master of Management, have received international accreditation. The university emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, evident in initiatives like the Ubaya Centre for Disaster Management, which involves academics from various departments.
Ubaya welcomes international applicants and offers various support services. While most undergraduate programs are taught in Bahasa Indonesia, requiring proficiency, certain business and international relations programs are available in English. For English-taught programs, international students typically need a TOEFL score of 500-550 (PBT) or an IELTS score of 5.5-6.0. The university also facilitates cultural integration through numerous partnerships with universities worldwide for student exchange and dual degree programs.
Ubaya has three main campuses: Ngagel, Tenggilis, and the Ubaya Training Center (UTC) in Trawas. The Ngagel campus houses administrative offices and several faculties, while the Tenggilis campus hosts the Faculty of Pharmacy and modern laboratory facilities. The UTC in Trawas provides an eco-friendly environment for training and outdoor activities. Surabaya, as Indonesia's second-largest city, offers a vibrant urban life with numerous shopping centers and diverse culinary options. The city has a public transportation system, including the Suroboyo Bus, and taxis are readily available. Ubaya also provides its own operational buses for student mobility.
Ubaya is dedicated to preparing its graduates for the workforce, evidenced by the launch of the Ubaya Career Platform. This platform connects students and alumni with prospective employers, with over 695 companies having created accounts and around 200 actively using it as of March 2024. The university also fosters strong industry connections through collaborations and by integrating networking activities into its academic programs, offering opportunities for internships and engagement with professionals. Many Ubaya alumni hold senior management positions, are successful entrepreneurs, or work in government and academia.
