Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi)

The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) in Tsing Yi is a public vocational college offering a range of professionally-oriented bachelor's degree programs. Established in 2012, THEi focuses on an "Applied Science-Oriented" approach, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications to prepare graduates for industries with growth potential in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region. Academics

THEi offers over 20 "Applied Science-Oriented" degree programs across various academic areas, including Product and Fashion Designs, Sports and International Events Management, Digital Construction and Building Services, Horticulture, Arboriculture and Landscape Management, Chinese Medicine and Food Science, Hotel Management and Culinary Arts, and Technology and Digital Technology and Innovative Business. The teaching approach emphasizes a balance of theory, practice, and general education, often incorporating real-life projects and industrial attachments. All degree programs are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) and relevant professional bodies.

Non-local students admitted to full-time degree programs are typically insured under a basic health, accident, and repatriation insurance. English is the medium of instruction for many of THEi's bachelor's degree programs. Campus & Location

The Tsing Yi campus of THEi is equipped with advanced research facilities, state-of-the-art laboratory instruments, and student residential halls. There are two student residential halls within the Vocational Training Council (VTC), one of which is located on Tsing Yi Island, offering over 900 residence places. Tsing Yi is an island in Hong Kong, offering convenient transportation options and access to the city's vibrant life.

Career Outcomes

THEi's graduates are considered work-ready, equipped with current and relevant skills. The overall employment rate for full-time program graduates in 2023 was 95%. Approximately 86% of employed graduates work in jobs relevant to their field of study, and 92% found the discipline-specific knowledge gained at THEi helpful for their careers. THEi maintains industry connections to provide internship and recruitment opportunities for its students. Non-local students are permitted to take up part-time on-campus employment and off-campus summer jobs, and may also undertake study or curriculum-related internships.
