University of Ioannina

The University of Ioannina (UoI), established in 1964 and becoming an independent university in 1970, is a prominent public higher education institution located in Ioannina, Greece. It is recognized for its commitment to academic excellence and research, playing a leading role in various scientific fields, life sciences, and medicine, as well as excelling in classical studies, humanities, and pedagogy. The University of Ioannina's campus is one of the largest in Greece, spanning approximately 850 acres with extensive green spaces, and is located 6 km from the city center of Ioannina. It is easily accessible from the city by public transport or car. Ioannina itself is a city with a deep spiritual tradition, offering a vibrant student life, cultural monuments, archaeological sites, and natural attractions like the lake and nearby villages. The campus facilities include lecture halls, offices, laboratories, libraries, amphitheaters, sports facilities, a restaurant, cafeterias, shops, a bank, and a post office.
