About LUCA School of Arts
LUCA School of Arts, established in 2012 through the merger of five renowned art academies, is Flanders' only university college exclusively dedicated to art and design. With campuses in Brussels, Genk, Ghent, and Leuven, LUCA offers a diverse and inspiring environment for creative talent to flourish. The institution is a member of the KU Leuven Association, further strengthening its academic standing.
LUCA School of Arts provides a wide array of over fifty study programs across various artistic disciplines, including Audiovisual Arts and Techniques, Visual Arts and Design, Interior & Product Design, Construction Technology, Music, and Drama. The teaching approach emphasizes individual artistic development, with faculty members, who are often practicing artists and designers themselves, guiding students to discover their unique artistic solutions rather than imposing a specific style. While most Bachelor's programs are taught in Dutch, LUCA offers several English-taught Master's degree programs, including specializations in Visual Arts (Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Photography, Textile Design), Audiovisual Arts (Animation Film, Film), and Music. Additionally, there are five unique (Erasmus Mundus) Joint Master's and one Joint International Bachelor's program taught in English.
LUCA School of Arts welcomes international students and provides various support services, including assistance with accommodation, student jobs, visa-related issues, and medical and legal advice. While many Bachelor's programs are in Dutch, there are numerous English-taught Master's programs and joint international programs available. The institution also participates in exchange programs, allowing students and staff to engage with an extensive international network of art and architecture schools across five continents. LUCA also offers internships for international nationals, including those as a formal part of a degree or for recent graduates via Erasmus+.
LUCA School of Arts boasts multiple campuses across four vibrant Belgian cities: Brussels, Genk, Ghent, and Leuven. The Brussels campuses, Sint-Lukas and Narafi, offer students the unique experience of living and studying in the capital of Belgium, a metropolis with a rich cultural scene. Brussels itself is a dynamic city, offering a diverse environment and numerous attractions. Each campus provides a creative and driven environment, fostering a vibrant community of artistic thinkers.
LUCA School of Arts is dedicated to nurturing creative talent and preparing students for successful careers in the artistic and creative industries. The institution maintains a strong alumni network, which serves as a valuable resource for graduates seeking employment and project opportunities. LUCA actively encourages networking among its alumni and collaborates with platforms like Younite to connect creative minds. The school also provides career services, listing important sites for job opportunities in the creative sector and offering guidance for further career development through masterclasses, lectures, and postgraduate courses.
